Ram Electric Blue (Mikrogeophagus Ramirezi)
Electric Blue Ram (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi var. "Blue")
The Electric Blue Ram is a stunning dwarf cichlid that brings a splash of neon brilliance to the tropical aquarium. Unlike the standard Ram, which features various colors, this variety is characterized by a solid, vibrant, metallic blue sheen that covers the entire body. They are peaceful, intelligent, and highly social, often following their owners' movements from inside the tank. They are the perfect centerpiece for a high-end planted aquarium or a peaceful community setup.

| Hardness: | 2–10 dGH |
| Minimum Tank Size: | 60L+ |
Behaviour & Tank Compatibility
Electric Blue Rams are best kept in pairs. They are peaceful toward other species and make excellent residents for community tanks. Ideal tank mates include Cardinal Tetras, Rummynose Tetras, Sterbai Corydoras, and Hatchetfish. Because they are somewhat delicate, avoid housing them with aggressive or overly boisterous fish that might stress them or outcompete them for food.
Ideal Tank Setup
-
Pristine Water Quality: They have a very low tolerance for nitrates. Frequent, small water changes are a must for this species.
-
Established Aquarium: They should only be introduced to a well-cycled, "mature" tank.
-
Sand Substrate: Like all Rams, they enjoy sifting through the substrate for food.
-
Plants and Decor: Provide plenty of hiding spots using driftwood, rocks, and dense planting. Flat stones are preferred for egg-laying if they decide to breed.
-
Dark Background: Using a dark background will make their electric blue color "pop" even more.
